Spirit in Sport's mission across Portsmouth is to ‘Reach the Community through Sport for Christ.’

LP-J gave funding towards the employment of a Graduate Team Leader, Sam, from 2023-24.

Sam says:
‘The heart of Spirit in Sport is to be evangelistic and share the Gospel with people across the city who otherwise would not hear it. We’ve seen how sport has the unique power to help us do this, and I can’t thank LP-J enough for believing and getting behind our vision.
I love how our work unites churches across the city. Our volunteer team spans over 12 different churches across the city, with that number rising when we look at the churches represented at our regular ministries. This is wonderful for two reasons:
1. It both enables & displays unity across the various expressions of church in the city.
2. The majority of our beneficiaries are non-Christians – so they get to build relationships with Christians right on their doorstep.
On a personal level, God has blessed me through this role with abundant daily opportunities to communicate the Gospel far and wide in the city I love, to people who need to hear it. Be that when leading devotionals with children at our weekly sessions, or when building relationships with adults at our football league and Table Tennis café. Thank you LP-J.’
