In 2015, North End Baptist Church, working in partnership with King's Church, launched the North End Foodbank.
With over 15 volunteers and moving an average of 10 tonnes of food each year and around 2,000 people coming through the doors, it was becoming a job in itself.
LP-J funded the first year of employment of a full-time manager, Jo Green, who started in June 2019.
“We have seen people get connected into church families after visiting a foodbank, they have experienced love and a warm welcome and most importantly experienced hope,” says Rev. Tracey Ansell, Minister at North End Baptist Church.
“The foodbank is seen as a crucial ministry for us, and we needed to build in sustainability for it to be secure. We applied for the salary costs to recruit a Foodbank Manager, and were granted the first year's salary. It really was an answer to prayer!”
In 2021, NEBC closed the Foodbank and opened North End Pantry in its place
